Photo Intaglio: The work is created by using Adobe Photoshop to manipulate drawings, photos, stencils to "draw" the final image. The image is then printed on an ink jet Mylar which is transferred to the plate. The Polymer plate is a photo sensitive steel plate that is etched by ultra violet light that passes over the Mylar and plate. The plate is then developed with water and hardened by a second exposure to the ultra violet light. The printing process is exactly like traditional intaglio, for each print, the plate is spread with ink and than the surface is wiped and buffed with a tarlatan. A damp piece of paper is laid on the plate and it is printed by pushing the paper into the inked lines with an etching press.
