Mono Type: Mono types are produced by painting with inks, thinners, and oil pastels directly onto the plates. The plate can be Plexiglas, metal or heavy paper. The inks can be used in a variety of viscosities and painted like an oil painting, only in reverse. Brushes, tools, stencils, chalk can all manipulate the final image. Only one print is produced either by hand printing or using a press. These prints can be added to by other techniques such as chine colle, card board drops, decals, etc. once printed.
